World Record Set in Florida…For A Good Reason!

We often get a lot of ridiculous stories coming out of Florida, but this one actually gives me hope.

633 divers set a Guinness World Record in Boca Raton on Saturday for “largest underwater cleanup.”

A representative from Guinness was on site, counting each diver as they entered the water. Divers had to stay in the water for at least 15 minutes in order to qualify as participating.

The divers were cleaning up an area around a pier, and there’s no official word on how much they’ve cleaned just yet. But reportedly, they pulled out 1600 pounds just in lead fishing weights.

The previous record was set in Egypt in 2015. They had 614 divers.

Nice going, Florida!
