Stetson Mansion Nominated For Best Holiday Home Tour

DeLand, FL – The Stetson Mansion in DeLand is one of two Florida homes nominated to USA Today’s “Best Holiday Historic Home Tour.” The other is the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers. J. T. Thompson, co-owner of Stetson Mansion and sole designer and director for the Christmas Spectacular season says that every single room is decorated and each room is completely different than the year before. He never repeats a design or a theme throughout the Mansion.

Thompson said this year there are a massive amount of vignettes and he thinks this will be the best year ever. He says Christmas is different at the Mansion. “It’s very decadent. There’s very rich layering. This isn’t a Christmas tree and some garland. This is really intricate themes and designs. Every placement in every room has a meaning and a reason for being where it’s at.”

Last year, the Stetson Mansion’s holiday home tour was named one of the best holiday home tours in the country, placing fifth, even beating out the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina. The Mansion was voted number one in the state of Florida. Thompson said being selected number one in the state and number five in the country is “quite a big honor, not only for DeLand but for Volusia County, for Central Florida and all of Florida to have a contender like this in such an amazing contest.”

Tours begin this Friday, November 15, and run through January 15, 2020. He says all tours must be booked online. Space and availability are limited and he recommends booking as early as possible if you want a certain day and time. Much of December is already sold out. Only 300 tickets are available each day and during the course of the tour, Thompson says about 15,000 people will be able to take part.

Thompson said that there are 20 historic homes to choose from in the USA Today 10 Best Holiday Home tour contest. You can find the Holiday Home tour contest at 10best.com
