Reality Stars Todd and Julie Chrisley In Custody in Georgia on Tax Evasion and Fraud Charges

Reality television stars Todd and Julie Chrisley are in custody in Georgia, one day after they were indicted on tax evasion and fraud charges, according to CNN.

Todd and Julie Chrisley could be facing more than 30 years in prison for defrauding banks and the United States Government. U.S. Attorney BJ Pak announced the indictment in a press conference yesterday. Amoung the charges in the 12-count indictment, Todd and Julie Chrisley are accused of committing bank and wire fraud to obtain fraudulent loans, forged documents to obtain millions of dollars in loans, and accuses Todd Chrisley of directing one of his employees to falsify documents to help him obtain the loans.

That’s not all… The Chrisleys’ even allegedly failed to file federal tax returns on income from their USA Network reality series “Chrisley Knows Best.” (Maybe they thought nobody was watching?)

The couple surrendered to authorities early Wednesday morning, a spokesman for the attorney’s office told CNN. They’re expected to appear before a federal judge later in the day.

Todd Chrisley denied the claims in a post on Instagram, implying the charges are based on evidence presented to investigators by a disgruntled former employee. He wrote,

“I’m telling you all this now because we have nothing to hide and have done nothing to be ashamed of. Not only do we know we’ve done nothing wrong, but we’ve got a ton of hard evidence and a bunch of corroborating witnesses that proves it.”

“Chrisley Knows Best” has aired on the USA Network since 2014 for a total of seven seasons.
