I imagine you would have to be quite drunk to mistake a manned, mosquito-spraying plane for a drone. But it happened.

40-year-old Stacy Nguyen Rodgers took three shots at the aircraft as it flew over her home. Several mosquito pools in that area had recently tested positive for West Nile Virus, so the state-owned aircraft was sent in to deal with the problem. Unfortunately, Rodgers had been drinking and thought it was an unmanned drone that had been sent to spy on her. Luckily, none of her shots made contact with the intended target.

One of her neighbors captured a video of the plane just after she shot at it. In the video Rodgers can be heard saying, “He’s coming back to taunt us,” and she makes references to shooting at the plane.

When police arrived, they noted that she was intoxicated, and confiscated her pistol. She has been charged with illegal use of a weapon.
