There’s a man named Nicholas Sloane and he wants to do something that seems ridiculous and smart at the same time. He wants to drag a 125 ton iceberg from Antarctica to South Africa to help replenish their fresh water source. Sloane is a professional marine salvager and hopes to solve the drinking water crisis in South Africa by way of iceberg.
He proposes grabbing the iceberg and towing it with two tanker ships and two tugboats. The size of this chunk of ice is taller than the Empire State building . Its height is about 3200 ft and its width is close to 1700 feet. That’s almost like moving a city block.
This entire mission is going to cost a cool $200 million dollars and it’s being called “The Southern Ice project”
