Bunnell, FL – An employee who gave himself a pretty big payday is now wanted by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies report that a staffing agency, Labor Finders, originally called them back on June 27th in reference to potential fraud carried out by a former employee. They accused that employee, 28-year-old Cory Neil Hall, of falsifying timesheets.
According to the report, Hall had been working at Delfinos at the Club at Hammock Beach Resort when restaurant management found that 49 out of 70 time sheets he submitted had inconsistent signatures.
Each of the 49 invoices listed a Sous Chef at the establishment as the authorizing employee. But, the signature did not match previous invoices from the same Sous Chef.
The total amount billed by Labor Finders to Delfinos $15,786.15. Of the total amount billed, Delfinos already paid $5,285.25.
Further investigation determined that Hall was paid $10,887 by the agency for the 49 fake invoices. Signatures from Delfinos employees were taken by detectives and compared to the signatures on the invoices. None of them matched.
And while 39 fraudulent invoices were reviewed, it was determined that due to record-keeping detectives would only be able to charge Hall with 30 counts of uttering a forgery, which totaled $10,887. Hall will also be charged with grand theft over $10,000.
During their investigation, Hall was not able to be located by deputies or investigators. Due to that, detectives sought an arrest warrant from a judge. A warrant was signed by Judge Perkins back on October 30th, with bond set at $10,000.
Deputies believe that Hall may have fled back to his home state of Ohio due to the pending case against him. His warrant only covers extradition in surrounding states only.
