Trump Protesters Upset Over AG Leaving Gather In Daytona

Daytona Beach, FL – United States President Donald Trump’s decision to get a new U.S. Attorney General in the midst of the ongoing Russian collusion probe sparked a small protest this afternoon (November 8th) in the heart of downtown Daytona Beach.

At least 40 people gathered around the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and Beach Street around 5 p.m., which organizers claim was part of a coordinated nationwide protest effort through MoveOn.org.

Chants of “Protect Mueller” – a reference to Robert Mueller, the chief investigator handling the probe into the 2016 Presidential election which Trump won – were shouted by the protesters on both sides of the street to drivers passing by the intersection, which is at the western foot of the ISB Bridge.

Becky Berman – the protest coordinator who’s part of the local chapter of the Indivisible United progressive movement – says Jeff Sessions’ departure and removing Rod Rosenstein from overseeing the probe is a clear attempt by Trump to impede Mueller’s work.

“We feel that Trump has crossed a line,” Berman added. “Our President is not above the law.”

Berman – who says she’s a field organizer for the Democrat Party – also claimed that over 900 similar events were going on today at the same time across the country, including at least 75 in the Sunshine State.

In submitting his resignation letter earlier this week, Sessions noted that it was being done at the President’s request. It went into no further details.

Sessions’ Chief of Staff takes over the AG role until a permanent replacement is named.
