Streamline Hotel Owner Decides Not To Sell

Daytona Beach, FL – It looks like one of the most iconic hotels on Daytona’s beachside won’t be changing hands after all.

Eddie Hennessy – the owner of the Streamline Hotel on State Road A1A – went on Facebook recently to talk about what happened after he placed the property on the auction block earlier this month.

The hotel’s rooftop bar is the place where NASCAR was formed in 1947, eventually seeing the end of beach racing and the formation of Daytona International Speedway.

Ten-X Commercial ran the two-day online auction process, with bidders asked to bid a minimum of $2.3 million dollars, though the actual selling price was expected to be somewhere over $7 million.

This move came less than two years after the Streamline reopened following an over $6 million makeover and an appearance on the Travel Channel television show “Hotel Impossible”.

Another beachside hotel – the La Playa Beach Resort & Suites – is also up for auction on April 26th, with Ten-X running it on behalf of the owner, Summit Hospitality Management Group.

La Playa – which is on the east side of A1A across from Bellair Plaza – hasn’t been open since 2016 after it was damaged during the storm season.
