Murray expected to declare

The Jacksonville Jaguars are most certainly going to be looking for a new starting quarterback this offseason, likely in the 2019 NFL Draft. That direction may just be getting a boost in the form of another top heralded quarterback, as reports seem to indicate that Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray appears to be likely to be entering the 2019 NFL Draft.

For those unaware, Murray was a first-round pick in the MLB Draft by the Oakland A’s and he signed a contract worth $4.6 million to play baseball. However, as Murray’s college season went on, culminating with winning the Heisman Trophy and earning a spot in the CFB Playoffs, the thought grew that Murray could pass up professional baseball in favor of the NFL.

While Murray has a nice baseball deal in hand already, and ultimately can make significantly more money in baseball than football, if he projects to be a Top 15 picks, he’ll get more money than he would have with the Oakland A’s and if he’s as good as he was in college, he’ll make money significantly faster in the NFL.

Now of course, it’s not all about money, else he’d probably stick with baseball. The feeling is simply that Murray just likes football more. If Murray does decide to enter the NFL Draft, he will have to give back his signing bonus from his MLB deal.
