Grand Jury Indicts Suspected Drug Dealer For Murder

Daytona Beach, FL – A Volusia County grand jury indicts a 22-year-old man for first-degree murder after police say he sold the drugs which led to another man’s death last October.

That indictment came down Tuesday (August 7th) against Justin Torrence, according to the office of Florida 7th Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza.

According to the indictment paperwork, Torrence provided 31-year-old Shea T. Watts the heroin and fentanyl which led to his death on or about October 27th, 2017.

Daytona Beach Police Department Chief Craig Capri plans to hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon at DBPD headquarters on Valor Street to discuss the particulars of the case.

Torrence becomes the third suspected drug dealer this year to be indicted in Volusia and Flagler counties on first-degree murder.

Another Volusia grand jury indicted 32-year-old Steven Montilla in June, while a Flagler grand jury did the same to 35-year-old Joseph Colon in February.

All three men remain behind bars while awaiting trial.

Volusia County Jail records show Torrence has been booked there 10 other times since June 2015. He’s been in custody there since November 2017 on a slew of drug-related charges, including trafficking in heroin and cocaine.
