Chuck Punched Keith!

Chuck Punched Keith!

Still having a hard time saying good bye to Chuck Berry?  He passed away at his home in St. Louis on Saturday, March 18th from natural causes.  Here are a few more things you may not have known about the 90 year old Duck Walking Rocker.

Over the course of his musical career 28 songs hit the charts, but only “My Ding-A-Ling” went to #1.  The Simpsons helped propel the song to the top of the charts when it used it in 1991 for the school talent show.  Simpsons Talent Show Video

“Johnny B. Goode” is the ONLY Rock & Roll song aboard two Voyager spacecraft that were launched in 1977 and are still hurtling through space.  On Chuck Berry’s 60th birthday Carl Sagan sent him a letter that said, “When they tell you that your music will live forever, you can usually be sure that they are exaggerating. But ‘Johnny B. Goode’ is on the Voyager’s Interstellar records attached to NASA’s Voyager spacecraft — now two billion miles from earth and bound for the stars. These records will last a billion years or more. Happy 60th birthday, with our admiration for the music you have given to this world. Go Johnny, Go.” (The Independent)

He even punched Keith Richards in the face!  Here’s Keith telling Jimmy Fallon the story.  Once Chuck Punched Me.
